Taking a Realistic Approach to Starting out in WordPress

I was a newbie to WordPress three years ago and I had little or no technical experience at the time. In a nutshell, I made a lot of mistakes using WordPress my first year, but my knowledge has grown exponentially since then I work in WordPress everything. For people just starting out and trying to use WordPress for a small business, startup or blog, I think there is a lot of misunderstanding out there about how to use WordPress, how to get over the fear of using WordPress and what the expectations should be.

  1. I want to talk about my background and how I went from someone with no technical experience and being quite fearful of using WordPress to someone that is relatively fluent in it.
  2. Have realistic expectations of using WordPress. A lot of people just think you upload a theme and you are done. I want people to understand that WordPress makes the process of setting up a site faster, but there a lot of things that need to be done and it takes time to build up traffic.
  3. Do’s and Don’ts when setting up a WordPress site for your startup, business, blog, etc.
  4. Present useful websites, resources for newbies to WordPress
